RE2022 Statements Regarding the Situation in Ukraine

RE2022 alongside the University of Iceland strongly condemn the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Read the full RE2022 statement Regarding the Situation in Ukraine.

RE2022 also stands by the European University Association Statement on Ukraine.

Registration is now open and will remain open until the conference starts. Early Bird prices have now expired.

All participants - panel convenors, authors, chairs, discussants, organisers, keynotes, plenary speakers, guests, volunteers, committee members and those without any specific role - must register in advance of the event, whether attending in Reykjavik face-to-face (f2f) or online.

Please note that accommodation is not included with the registration fee. You can have a look through accommodation options here, we advise you organise this in good time as the conference is happening during peak tourist season.

Registration is by online form only and does not require instant payment: your registration will be manually processed and within a few days you will be emailed an invoice with payment information. Invoices should be settled within 15 days by card online or by bank transfer.

Conference fees

Face-to-face (f2f) participation:

  • Full: €360
  • Concession*: €250
  • Single day registration (for Icelandic colleagues): €190
  • Single day registration concession rate* (for Icelandic colleagues): €155

*students, unemployed, low-waged (gross annual income below €20,000)

This fee includes f2f and online access to three days of conference sessions (with 46 panels and round tables and workshops to choose from). Registration also includes access to reception/pool party, Heiðmörk-carbon offsetting adventure and access to session recordings.

We would like to invite all delegates to book a 10 EUR ticket to the social event at the end of the conference (Thursday evening), as this will be the moment to dance to excellent music, eat, drink and make merry! The party will take place at Listasafn Reykjavíkur—Hafnarhús (Reykjavík Art Museum—Hafnarhús) at Tryggvagata 17.

Please note: excursions are NOT part of the registration fee or process. We will be putting up links to our website in April for excursions organised by Icelanding tour companies, but while we will provide descriptions and contact details, the conference administration will not be organising those bookings.

Register for the conference

What are you paying for?

We're delighted at the prospect of a f2f conference in Reykjavik, but understand that some colleagues will not be able to travel, and therefore offer a hybrid option. The aim is provide a rich conference experience for all, with access to every panel and plenary. However the labour involved in ensuring full participation for both f2f and virtual delegates is approximately half as much again as organising a virtual or f2f only conference.

Why does running a hybrid event cost more?

While a virtual event has no lunches to pay for, it requires increased staffing and technical costs. A hybrid event has all the f2f costs, all the virtual costs, AND further costs relating to equipment, support and training (in the use of that equipment).

Each conference involves development and maintenance of the software for processing panel and paper abstracts and registrations, answering hundreds of emails a day, supporting panel convenors in their roles, planning events, creating timetables, facilitating communication, offering advice, taking payments, balancing the finances, training volunteers, maintaining a website with useful information for participants and finally seeing the actual event through, 24/7, both online and on-site. In addition in f2f/hybrid, there are venue and equipment/technology costs plus catering - albeit these are not charged to virtual attendees.

Cancellation

Registrations cancelled (notifying us by email) before 1st May will be refunded, less a small amount to cover administrative and finance costs. Cancellations made after 1st May will be ineligible for such a refund, due to costs already incurred. Refunds at that point will be discretionary. This also applies to conversions after 1st May from f2f to virtual registration.
